Behind the Scenes at Swoco Studio
If you’ve ever wondered what goes into running a small marketing studio (or how much really happens behind the scenes) let me give you a glimpse. Running a business is about small, intentional steps that add up to something meaningful.
Here’s what the last 60 days have looked like for us at Swoco Studio, (from refining our own business messaging to supporting our clients, aaand building Microdose Marketing™️…so much!):
Foundational work for our own business:
1. Refining Our Message
We’ve always been a friendly, approachable team, but over the past two months, we’ve worked to better define who we serve and how we help.
Updated our homepage and services page to clearly communicate what we offer: SEO, optimized website content, and foundational marketing that grows businesses, not just follower counts.
Embraced that we are actually really good at this and trying not to let imposter syndrome water down our website copy
Focused on reaching small businesses with teams who value outsourcing and long-term strategies over instant results.
2. Relaunching Our Referral Program
We’ve always been blessed with referrals and we’ve always venmo’d some cash, but we wanted to make it official.
Designed a program offering a $150 Visa gift card for referrals who sign up for a six-month SEO and content retainer.
Wrote a landing page and emails explaining the program.
Created ad campaigns to spread the word. (These aren’t running yet).
3. Creating SEO-Optimized Content
Published multiple SEO blogs, insta reels + captions, and threads posts for our ideal clients, including topics like:
Building Microdose Marketing
This is the project we’re most excited about: a workbook and methodology designed to make marketing feel accessible and sustainable for business owners who are overwhelmed by the idea of doing it all.
1. Developing the Workbook
The Microdose Marketing workbook is packed with exercises, prompts, and strategies to help you market smarter, not harder. Over the past 60 days, we’ve:
Applied for a trademark for Microdose Marketing
Written guided meditation scripts to help business owners find clarity and creativity.
Wrote journaling prompts and reflection exercises tailored to foundational marketing tasks.
Designed bite-sized, actionable steps that can be completed in 10-20 minutes.
2. Launching the Brand
We’ve been steadily growing the Microdose Marketing audience by:
Posting relatable, actionable content on Instagram and Threads
Running nurturing ads on Facebook
Drafting the landing page to showcase the workbook’s value and how it fits into our overall services.
Creating email campaigns to introduce the concept to our audience and build excitement.
Supporting Our Clients
Our clients have been keeping us busy! This is what we have been working on:
Jewelry Designer: We’re managing their SEO strategy, writing blogs, and building landing pages for wholesale partnerships and custom designs. These pages drive conversions and help their sbusiness grow even during a major move. Prior to moving, she relied heavily on in-person pop-ups and post move, she will be relying heavily on her website so we have been preparing for that for a few months.
Spiritual Counselor: This client is launching a downloadable resource while moving homes from Iowa to New England. We’re handling the SEO blogs, landing page optimization, and even helping refine the downloadable itself, so their marketing stays strong while they adjust to their new normal. Once the workbook and landing page are complete, we will strategize social content with this client and set up paid ads for her.
Artisan Woodcrafter: Marketing isn’t their thing, and that’s okay. We’ve spent six months writing blogs that doubled their website traffic and sales compared to last year. They’re pausing to focus on new photo and video content, but will be back for ads management once they have new visual assets.
Business Educator/E-Courses: With 13 active ad variations running across three offers, we’re helping this client make a seamless transition to focusing on B2B sales. This includes testing copy, creative, and strategies to ensure their ads perform their best. We have been working with this client for 6 months and are awaiting budget approval for 2025.
Solopreneur Building a Personal Brand: We’ve been coaching them on building a personal brand that aligns with their long-term goals, helping them create an exit strategy from their day job and transition into full-time entrepreneurship.
Fine Artist with new Studio: We coached a fine artist on how to market their work in a way that feels aligned. This included strategy sessions, a deep dive into their audience, and creating an actionable plan for growing their reach.
Brick-and-Mortar Fine Jeweler: This retailer came to us with zero online presence. Over six years, we built their SEO foundation, wrote optimized blogs, ran ad campaigns, and turned their website into a traffic-driving machine.
Local Carpenter: This client needed an optimized website in order to reach local clients. They had been relying on sites like Angie’s List until now, but it was time to get official.
What We’ve Learned
This season has reminded us of a few core truths:
From creating a referral program to writing one blog at a time, these micro-actions build the foundation for long-term success.
Boundaries are essential: We released a client who wasn’t aligned with our current direction, and it freed up space to focus on what matters most. This was HARD.
People come first: Whether it’s supporting a client through a move or helping them pivot their business, we’re here to make their lives easier, and their business more profitable.
Microdose Marketing in Action
